Hey Phoebe, I’m Steven, I know it’s weird to write this in first person, but I’m not about to pretend like I’m not the guy fucking writing this. I rarely submit to any of these things because I don’t trust labels (the Secretly Canadian group is one of the few I’ve ever submitted to)

I’m so excited at the prospect of working with you that I’m doing something I never do. Below is mostly scratch tracks that are shit and I absolutely hate sharing things before they’re done, but ultimately I think it’s good writing. This time last year my wife texted me that she wanted a divorce while I was on the road and ended up leaving me for someone else. These are the songs that came out of being raised evangelical, leaving your faith, having your wife leave you, and figuring out what the fuck life is. (There are more songs for this project, but I literally saw you announced the label today and am sending exactly what was on my computer as of right this second)

I’ve attached some of the work I’ve released this year (including a hip hop collaboration with my buddy Shamiek) below so you can check out what some of my finished work is like if you’re so inclined. All tracked by myself so we can rock those super super low advances ;)
